Mayor of Perm Aleksey Demkin met Consul-General of People’s Republic of China

«Glorious history, great city»: this was the description of our city by Chinese  Consul General on his first visit to Perm.  During the  meeting with the Perm Mayor, they discussed the issues of further cooperation between Perm and China.

Perm authorities are actively building relations within the framework of inter-municipal and international cooperation. In particular, relations with Asian countries are viewed as strategically important for the city as well as for the whole country. Thus, Perm  has strong ties with  the city of Qingdao, Shandong province. Qingdao is one of the ten most dynamically developing cities in China.  The history of friendship between the cities dates back for about 20 years. Over the time, many different projects in the fields of education, culture, sports and ecology have been created and successfully implemented.

 In addition, bilateral contacts with other cities of China are progressing very dynamically.In particular, the city of Changzhou (Jiangsu Province), the city of Zunyi (Guizhou Province) and the city of Hohhot (Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region) have become more involved.

On April 21, Mayor of Perm  Aleksey Demkin held a meeting  with the delegation of the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Kazan. The Mayor noted the importance of Perm’s relationship with China.

Relations with the People’s Republic of China have always been a priority for our city, and now this cooperation acquires even more relevance. It is typical that in most cases, business becomes the initiator of new contacts at the city level. Changzhou and Hohhot already have business partners in Perm and offer cooperation at the level of city administrations, - said Mayor Demkin.

To date, a number of projects aimed at exchanging experience in the social sphere have already been implemented. The Perm authorities further set a course for the development of economic relations. With the assistance of the Perm Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Perm and Changzhou administrations, a business mission of Perm entrepreneurs to the Chinese city is planned this year.

The Consulate General is ready to assist   in strengthening  ties between the cities of China and Perm. I would like to express my most heartfelt congratulations to you and all the residents of Perm on such an important date - the 300th anniversary of the city foundation, “ shared Xiang Bo,  the Consul General of China in Kazan.

The Mayor of Perm invited the delegation of the Consulate General to attend events dedicated to the anniversary of the city during  the celebration programme.

In addition to the main meeting, the delegation also visited the photo exhibition «Meet the new partner of Perm - the city of Changzhou» in the central alley of  the Theater Garden. Similarly, a photo exhibition of Perm will be organized in Changzhou  by  the end of  2023.
